This month, I will be speaking on "Preparing for ASP.NET 5" for two events:
Western Mass Microsoft Technology Users Group on March 19, 2015 at 5:30pm - 8pm in Agawam, MA.
and
Boston Code Camp 23 on March 21, 2015 (conference is all day) in Cambridge, MA
Here is my abstract:
Preparing for ASP.NET 5
There are many changes coming out this year for Microsoft .NET and ASP.NET, ASP.NET MVC, WebAPI, SignalR - which collectively has been called "ASP.NET vNext" or its official title "ASP.NET 5". Along with a new Visual Studio 2015, there will be improvements and changes in deployment (Windows, Azure, Linux, and Mac!) as well as changes in configuration and build environments.
This session will be in two parts: First, we'll take a brief look at some of the key changes coming with ASP.NET 5. Second, we'll dive in to see what you will need to learn now to make sure your applications are ready to move to ASP.NET 5.0. If you are developing today with Microsoft ASP.NET, ASP.NET MVC, WebAPI, SignalR or with any of the Javascript libraries using these technologies, this session will be of particular interest to you.
Of course, this talk is based on what is currently known with the Visual Studio 2015 CTP 6, all subject to change. If you are in the area for either of these events, please stop by. I also have a GitHub repository set up for source code demos which will be updated by the time the talks are given.
